WordPress Takes SXSW 2012!

The South by Southwest Interactive Festival (SXSW) binds a special place in a story and heart of WordPress. Though a discussion has altered in a years given we initial met Matt in a corridor in 2003 — before WordPress even had a name — it’s still arguably one of a many successful events in a industry, and we’ll be there again this year. Will we see we there?

Booth

There will be a WordPress counter during a SXSW trade show Mar 12-15. Our counter was packaged to superfluous final year as we helped people with their blogs and gave divided WordPress swag, so this year we’ll have some-more space to accommodate as many of we as possible. Stop by if we need a assisting palm with your site, or only to contend hi. We’ll also have buttons, stickers, and t-shirts again this year.

Party

This year’s WordPress party will be hosted by the WordPress Foundation on Monday, Mar 12 from 6-9pm. Space is limited, so make certain we RSVP (no SXSW badge is required). The celebration this year will be during a Buzzmedia Pure Volume House, and a story of how we bending adult with them is flattering cool.

Once on a time, David Wang had a business called Buzzmedia in Malaysia, with a chatter username @buzzmedia. When David altered gears and started ClickWP, a WordPress support business, he stopped going by a Buzzmedia name. In a U.S., a association also called Buzzmedia wished it had that Twitter username, and asked if they could have it given David wasn’t going to use it anymore.

David, feeling a WordPress village love, pronounced he would give them a name, and suggested they do something in lapse for a WordPress Foundation. So, everybody talked to everybody else and it worked out that Buzzmedia was peaceful to present a illusory venue for this year’s celebration as good as covering a bar.

In a end, a Foundation got a good SXSW party, Buzzmedia got their chatter username, and David got a comfortable heat of carrying used his energy for a good of a WordPress community, and they all lived happily ever after.

Seriously, though, a PureVolume House is always a good SXSW venue, so appreciate we David and Buzzmedia for your generosity! We’ll have drinks and snacks and a few hundred WordPress-loving partygoers, so we know it will be a good time. Kind of like a WordCamp afterparty but all a work of a WordCamp.

The venue can reason 500 people, and formed on final year, we’ll strike that flattering quickly. The one requirement is that we use WordPress. On a RSVP form, we will be asked to enter a URL of your WordPress-powered site (if we have some-more than one, only collect your categorical site). If we fill in this margin with something other than what’s requested (such as “N/A” or putting in a feign url) your RSVP might be deleted, so greatfully make certain to enter your genuine site.
